The International Development Academy Partners with The Soccer Management Institute
Two Elite Soccer Programs Join Forces to Serve Athletes Through All Potential Stages of their Student Journey
The International Development Academy (IDA) has officially partnered with the Soccer Management Institute (SMI) to provide student-athletes with opportunities to continue their soccer careers while furthering their education. The player journey is an aspect of the game that IDA takes extremely seriously, and we are proud to be able to offer athletes a chance to grow from the high school level all the way through to their Master’s Degree.
“We are thrilled to offer an additional world-class experience in our portfolio. The master’s degree, in partnership with Soccer Management Institute, aligns perfectly with our vision of being leaders in the placement of international student-athletes,” stated Tommaso Trevisan, General Manager of the International Development Academy.
IDA's goal is to help ambitious student-athletes meet their athletic and educational goals in our world-class environments. We feel that providing athletes with a chance to showcase their talent in front of professional and semi-professional soccer clubs while also pursuing a Master’s Degree is the ultimate opportunity to meet that goal.
"The partnership with SMI allows IDA also to add another location for gap year student-athletes, in particular for female players. SMI has a terrific network of clubs in the Italian leagues, due to their official partnerships with Serie A, AIC (Italians Footballer's Association) and AIAC (Italian Football Coaches Association)" Tommaso Trevisan continues.
"We're excited to join forces with IDA to increase our network of student-athletes, willing to get out of their comfort zone, to go study and play abroad in our beautiful country", stated Giorgio Antongirolami, Senior VP SMI.
By partnering with the Soccer Management Institute, we are able to help student-athletes continue their education while they advance their soccer careers. Through the IDA and SMI programs, we are now able to offer a full portfolio of experiences to athletes, 16 through 25, in particular on the women's side. Throughout our programs, athletes will have access to top notch facilities, world-class instructors and unprecedented cultural experiences.
